This article is mainly about enlighting us on facts about sharks and the misconception we had towards these creatures.The purpose is to persuade us to stop killing sharks as it may lead to extinction.
When we were young , we were taught how brutal and wild a shark can be, giving us the idea that sharks are dangerous creatures which we should never ever get close to.The truth is , the chances of sharks attacking someone is less than the chance of being struck by lightning.
Sharks are also killed for their body parts for many reasons.Some examples are, the flesh,the skin for high-quality leather; teeth and jaws for ornaments; liver oil for cosmetics, medicines, vitamin A, and skin-care products; and cartilage for false cancer 'cures',fins for 'shark fin soup' which is quite popular and known as a delicacy.
From the picture above, the fins of the sharks are removed by the hunters and then the poor creatures will be thrown back into the sea to suffer a slow and painful death.
Sharks plays a very important role in the chain food. Without it , the chain would break and thus leading to more extinctions of species in the sea.If there are no sharks left to prey on other creatures , those creatures will be over-populated and thus requiring more food to satisfy their needs.Which will then lead to unbalance number and after a while , extinction.
To make things worst, sharks takes many years to be able to reproduce.Unlike other species, sharks have a limit to the amount of offsprings they are able to produce.
Yet, nobody is protecting this creatures just for a simple fact that they don't look friendly unlike other mammals.However , the real mastermind is the internation buyers of shark fins . They will do anything to get their goods and sell it at high prices.
